MP Pumps
MP Pumps was organized in Detroit in 1942, shortly after America's entry into World War II. Our first pumps were used in landing craft and other amphibious vehicles where quality and reliability were absolutely essential. After the war, we continued to grow along with our reputation for superior design, engineering and manufacturing of centrifugal pumps for wide variety of applications.
In 1984, MP Pumps built and occupied a 100,000-square-foot facility in Fraser, Michigan. The facility houses all of our manufacturing and engineering operations as well as our administrative and marketing staffs. Nearly 20,000 square feet of our Fraser headquarters is devoted to parts warehousing. We stock over 10,000 different parts to ensure prompt delivery of replacement parts to MP Pumps' customers worldwide.
Research and Development
A strong research and development program is fundamental to innovation. At MP Pumps, our innovative muscle derives from a highly trained and experienced research staff backed by a fully equipped laboratory for conducting rigorous performance and endurance testing. Typically, development projects range from endurance testing of new seal materials to performance testing of custom housing geometries. Prototypes are frequently subjected to elevated ambient conditions to simulate actual operating environments and gain more reliable data. Laboratory facilities include dynamometers ranging from 3 to 125 horsepower, two test cells for measuring impeller radial and thrust loads and provision for testing self-priming pumps up to 25 feet of static lift.
Engineering
MP Pumps brings more than a half century of experience in the design and manufacture of centrifugal pumps to each new project. Through experience, we can quickly identify and focus on the critical aspects of every design project and develop an approach to satisfy the most demanding performance requirements. Our engineers use state-of-the-art solid modeling software, design for manufacturing techniques and fast prototype capability to move rapidly from initial concept to first production. Our application design expertise encompasses a broad range of markets, including industrial, transportation, agriculture, and marine. Similarly, our engineers are accustomed to working with a wide range of materials. Commonly used materials include bronze, ductile iron, aluminum, cast iron and stainless steel.
Manufacturing
Advanced technology is central to our manufacturing operations. Using state-of-the-art equipment and methods translates into speed, uniformity and consistent high quality. Computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers on the factory floor are linked to a central server for rapid loading of machine programs. This direct interface speeds set-up which, in turn, boosts productivity. Automated machining also improves precision in milling, boring, facing, drilling and other critical operations. Greater accuracy and repeatability means consistent high quality — your next MP pump will perform as well as your last.
Quality Control
At MP Pumps, quality is designed into every component and every pump we build. From concept, through development and on into production, our focus is to provide durable and reliable products that satisfy every customer requirement. Quality is monitored throughout the production process using state-of-the-art gauging systems. Critical points on every production unit receive 100% inspection. All gauges and inspection instruments are calibrated to meet MIL-STD-45662 and we conform to MIL-I-45208 inspection system standards when necessary. For nearly two decades, our coordinate measuring machine (CMM) has had an integral role in our quality program. This highly accurate and versatile tool helps us establish and monitor production quality standards. Our emphasis on quality is recognized by international standards agencies. Milestones include:
- American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Certification for select models.
- ISO 9001- 2000 certification
- ISO 14001- 2004 certification

Yeomans Pump
Yeomans Pump was started in 1898 as Yeomans Brothers Pump Company. The Yeomans brothers began operation out of a small building on the north side of Chicago. The products consisted mainly of building trade pumps such as sump pumps and recirculation pumps. Over time, the company grew, and the product range was expanded to include wastewater, shipboard and agricultural pumps. Yeomans was well known to have some of the finest fish pumps that were used to transfer fish to the dock.
In the early part of the 1900's, Yeomans established an agreement with the Shone Company of England. The Shone Company licensed manufacturing and marketing rights of the Shone Pneumatic ejector to the Yeomans brothers. The success of the "Shone" in the United States led the brother to buy out the Shone Company completely in later years.
During the war time, Yeomans Brothers was involved in manufacturing pumps and other support equipment for the war effort. When World War II concluded, manufacturing returned to wastewater pumping equipment, and the company would move to a new home in Melrose Park. The Melrose Park facility was over three times the size of the previous factory.
In the mid '60s, Yeomans expanded its line into the submersible pump market. The line continued to grow as did the popularity of submersible pumps. In the late '70s, Yeomans began the manufacture of its own submersible motors. This line of motors ranged from 180, 210 and 250 frame sizes with 5 to 40 HP. The motor line was expanded in the late 90's to include 320 and 360 frame motors that expanded the capability to 200 HP.
The 90's were a time of expansion and growth for the company. The company developed and patented a closed loop cooled "Dry Pit Submersible" for use in dry environments. This motor line ranges from 5 to 150 hp in the CLC design, but other DPS motors allow the use of even larger applications. 1999 saw another major milestone for the company. It moved into a new manufacturing facility at Aurora, Illinois. This state of the art manufacturing and testing facility features improved inventory handling and storage, new machines and an expanded test floor.
